The DOT has confirmed that two new revised rules are now in place. The below messages have been sent to both CalArk and Central Hauling drivers. They read as follows:
DOT has confirmed that the new 34 hr reset provisin is now in effect. This means a driver can do more than 1 reset during a 168 hour period and there is no requirement to have two periods off from 1 AM to 5 AM in the morning. This revised rule will remain in effect until further notice. You should received an Omintracs message sometime before 9 AM.
DOT has confirmed that the new rule for Driver Inspection Reports (DVIRs) is now in place. This means that you do not have to complete a DVIR at the end of the day if there are no discrepancies noted with the equipment.
Drivers will still have to allot sufficient time on their log for both pre-trip and post-trip inspections to complete the required reports for their inspections to cover the areas required by the DOT.
The required 30 minute rest break remain in effect.

Per our notification yesterday, we will be implementing the change to the Hours of Service application today starting approximately 2:30 pm (PST). · MCP mobile unit updates - Thursday, Dec.18, starting at 2:30 pm (PST)
· Hours of Service host software updates - Thursday, Dec.18, starting at 6:00 pm (PST)
Please share this information regarding the updated schedule with your employees. Also, please read the attached "Frequently Asked Questions" document for more detailed information about the changes we will be applying to our Hours of Service products.
