In the late evening hours of Wednesday, December 23rd, Mr. Jones was at home resting and making himself something to eat . He was in on break for the holidays from his over the road truck driving job. As he was eating his meal, he heard sirens go off in the near distance. He frantically began looking for the keys to the car so that he could escape and drive to safety. Just a few short miles away, his wife and kids were at Wal-Mart finishing up some last minute Christmas shopping. By 6:30pm, Maurice and his families lives were forever changed.
They were able to get back to the location of their home on Monday morning and salvage what they could. The mobile home itself is a total loss, as are both cars. Their immediate needs are being met thanks to the generosity of family, friends and coworkers near and far. We couldn't be more grateful for that.
We are forever grateful to God for their safety! Maurice and his wife, Angela, have five daughters, two that live at home with them, and one that was home from college for the holidays.
Many people have asked what they can do to help. From here, they will have to replace most everything and rebuild from the ground up. If you feel so inclined to help, we are asking for donations. Anything will help, and no amount is too small. To donate, click HERE
As you can imagine, it is devastating to see our loved ones and community experience such loss. We ask that you not only keep Maurice, his wife and kids in your prayers, but also the entire community.
