The DOT has confirmed that two new revised rules are now in place. The below messages have been sent to both CalArk and Central Hauling drivers. They read as follows:
DOT has confirmed that the new 34 hr reset provisin is now in effect. This means a driver can do more than 1 reset during a 168 hour period and there is no requirement to have two periods off from 1 AM to 5 AM in the morning. This revised rule will remain in effect until further notice. You should received an Omintracs message sometime before 9 AM.
DOT has confirmed that the new rule for Driver Inspection Reports (DVIRs) is now in place. This means that you do not have to complete a DVIR at the end of the day if there are no discrepancies noted with the equipment.
Drivers will still have to allot sufficient time on their log for both pre-trip and post-trip inspections to complete the required reports for their inspections to cover the areas required by the DOT.
The required 30 minute rest break remain in effect.
